Welcome to North Runnymede United Church, located in the dynamic and diverse West Toronto neighbourhoods of Runnymede, The Junction, Rockcliffe-Smythe Park, and Lambton.
The Regular Worship Service
Everyone is welcome at North Runnymede. Our weekly service starts at 11:00am Sunday mornings, and runs for roughly one hour. Normally, services follow the same general format:
- Call to Worship
- Hymn
- Announcements
- Scripture Reading
- Children & Youth Choir Song
- Children & Youth Time
- Choir Anthem (following which the children go downstairs with their Leaders)
- Scripture Reading
- Hymn
- Sermon
- Offering
- Prayers of the People
- Hymn
- Benediction
Most hymns are found in the red United Church hymn books called Voices United. You will be handed one, along with the weekly bulletin, by our Ushers as you walk in. They’re a friendly bunch, so don’t be afraid to ask them any questions – or have them introduce your children to their Leaders.
Occasionally throughout the year the children and youth will remain in church. These services are conducted with the children in mind. We are a very child-friendly church, so don’t worry if your child is restless or noisy. You are welcome to stay in the church, or slip downstairs if you need to.
Offerings are donations given by the congregation to help pay for the costs of running the Church, and to support a number of local programs in our area. Giving an offering is your choice, and can be any amount that is comfortable for you.
All are welcome to take Communion in the United Church, including visitors, non-members, and children. We celebrate communion 5-6 times a year, including Easter, Christmas Eve, and World Communion Sunday in October. We use bread and grape juice.
Finally, the congregation often enjoys coffee, tea, and refreshments after the service. Feel free to stay and visit. We always enjoy meeting new people.
